Q. How old does my pet have to be before he can travel?
A. Generally a puppy or kitten may fly when it is 8 weeks old but this varies from country to country and from airline to airline. Some countries will not allow a puppy or kitten to travel on it's mothers rabies vaccination. Should this be the case your pet may not travel until it is old enough to have its own rabies vaccination and this vaccination can only be administered once your pet is 3 (three) months old. Please contact us in this regard.
Q. What travel containers can I use?
A. We use two types of travel boxes, wooden or plastic. Both are airline and IPATA approved, for International travel a water bowl is attached to the wire front. The travel container has to be big enough to allow your pet to do a 360 degree turn and tall enough for the pet to stand up in.
Q. Can I put my pet’s bedding in the travel container?
A. Yes, in fact we would encourage you to provide a blanket or even an article of their clothing to put into the box, as the animal feels more secure with something that smells familiar.
Q. How do I go about collecting my pet at the destination airport?
A. Providing it is a destination where no quarantine applies you direct yourself to the cargo section of the airport, quote your airwaybill number and provide identification your pet will be handed over to you once it has cleared customs and been examined by the State Vet. In the case of countries where quarantine applies you may not collect your pet. This is done by the quarantine people. They transport the pet(s) directly to the quarantine facility on your behalf. |
